Do You have an important race coming up? We have put together the most essential pre-race checklist to ensure you feel calm and relaxed leading up to your big event and ready to run at your best. If you want to find a race to run you can check out Race Best’s calendar for all running events.

The days leading up to a race you have trained so hard for can be daunting and quite frantic – you need to ensure you prepare all your equipment and kit. You must think about logistics, remember what you are going to eat and at the same time are resting for your big race. What a stressful time! The Day Before Race

Most races will have posted your race number out to you so all race registration should be completed. If not make sure you know where you need to be collecting your race number from on the race morning. Make sure you have all your clothing, equipment and any belongings you are taking with you to the race ready to go and packed.

I can only advise to attempt to avoid caffeine the day before a race and more importantly the night before so you can ensure you will be getting the best possible sleep.

When packing your things for the race ensure your that all your battery gadgets including running watch, headphones and mobile phone are all charged and ready to go. This is so when you wake up in the morning you don’t have to worry about things not being charged and running out battery during the race.

It is recommended to pin your bib on your race shirt the night before. This is to ensure you don’t have to remember to take safety pins to the race. Therefore leaving you another thing you don’t have to worry about.

Make sure you have planned what you are going to eat before the race. Try and stick to foods you eat regularly as changing up your food on the day of the race could be problematic.

The Day of The Race
